The promotion and protection of human rights has been one of the key achievements of the last century. Nepal has also made its commitment to human rights through its constitutional framework and national and local efforts. In this context, Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) sees the UCLG Committee's Human Rights Cities and Territories Campaign as closely aligned with its vision of building a more inclusive, equitable and participatory city. Joining the campaign would provide an opportunity to further integrate human rights principles into local policies, planning, public services, and decision-making.

Participation in the campaign would also enable Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Nepal to connect with a global network of cities and territories committed to advancing human rights at the local level. Through this network, Nepal can exchange knowledge, experiences, and good practices with local and regional governments around the world, while also sharing its own experiences and approaches.
