Cities are the ultimate setting for people’s coexistence. In them, the daily events that win human rights are lived out, as well as those conflicts of interest that place them at risk. For this reason, local governments must commit to managing public policies with a human rights approach, to place people at the center and ensure the responsibility they hold, as part of the State, in guaranteeing human rights for all. Human rights are universal values that all public and private actors must pursue; as they are the highest commitment States assume before the multilateral system.
This campaign helps raise visibility for human rights policies and the necessary awareness to advance in the protection of human rights and in promoting the exercise of their defense by the citizenry.
