The local and regional agenda during the 7th World Urban Forum

The United Nations Human Settlement Programme (UN-Habitat) will celebrate the 7th session of the World Urban Forum in the Colombian city of Medellín on 5-11 April under the overall theme “Urban Equity in Development – Cities for Life"

In 2002, UN-HABITAT launched the World Urban Forum (WUF) initiative, which is intended to promote discussion on the global challenges that cities must face. This biannual initiative has now yielded six international conferences: in Nairobi (2002), Barcelona (2004), Vancouver (2006), Nanjing (2008), Rio de Janeiro (2010) and Naples (2012).

This global event will include a number of important sessions for the local and regional agenda throughout the week-long event, in particular:

Sunday 6th April: The United Nations Advisory Committee for Local Authorities (UNACLA) in the afternoon. Should you be interested in attending, please contact the UCLG Secretariat.

Tuesday 8th April from 08:30 – 11:30: The traditional Mayors’ Roundtable will address the role that local and regional governments should play both in the Post-2015 Development Agenda and in the Urban Agenda to be defined at Habitat III.
