The Urban Social Forum is an inclusive platform to discuss, share and promote ideas, practices, and knowledge, it is a space to develop networks, build visibility for different initiatives, and create discourse with partners from across Indonesia and Asia. It promotes more awareness, stronger partnerships, and a coordinated civil society. We aim to build civil society organizations into a powerful force for transformation, by creating a shared vision and policy agenda for urban change.

Since its inception, the Urban Social Forum has created a truly public, open, and inclusive space for citizens to put forward alternative ideas and imagine ‘Another City is Possible!’. Last year, our 4th USF took place in Semarang and saw attendance of more than 1,000 participants from all over Indonesia and other countries, 121 speakers in 31+ panels, plenaries and side events. Total participants and speakers represented 9 countries, 34 cities in Indonesia and 226 institutions. Attached is the 2016 report for your reference.

This year we are excited to announce that Bandung (near Jakarta), West Java, will be our host city; the event will be held on the 16th of December 2017.

We look forward to discussing the possibilities with you. I kindly ask you to give us an answer and/or suggestion of potential organizations and participants before October 23rd, so we can coordinate logistical and organizational details.

If there are any questions, doubts or discussions you want to engage, do not hesitate to contact me or check out the event's website at
