Become a member

The UCLG Committee on Social Inclusion, Participatory Democracy and Human Rights is formed by local governments from across the world, committed to strengthen cooperation and exchange practices with a view to advance human rights and the right to the city in worldwide cities and territories. The Committee also includes partner organizations representing civil society, researchers and other city networks.

01 Why join the Committee?

In our Committee, local governments will find a space where to exchange points of view, initiatives and practices on social inclusion, participatory democracy and human rights in the framework of UCLG. Members can make good use of the Committee as a platform where to value their initiatives, strengthen city-to-city cooperation and learn from other members. The Committee updates members on international events and processes. It promotes their participation in international campaigns, seminars and fora where cities can stand together to advance shared agendas on human rights and the right to the city vis-à-vis international institutions. Member can benefit from established dialogue with partner organizations (civil society, academia...).

02 Who can join?

Our membership is formed exclusively by local governments, regardless of their size, origin or capacities. Membership can be extended to local government associationsCivil society, academic centers and city networks can also join the Committee as partner organizations.

03 What does it imply and what happens after I join?

You will be registered as a member and our Executive Secretariat will get in touch with you in order to give you more information about our work and explore possibilities of cooperation. In this regard, we recommend you to look at the following sections of our site:
