UCLG Community of Practice on Housing

The Community of Practice on Housing is a UCLG mechanism gathering member local and regional governments of the “Cities for Adequate Housing” Declaration. In cooperation with our Committee, it aims at rendering concrete this Declaration through policy debates and exchange of experiences and knowledge.

The overall goals of the Community of Practice on Housing of UCLG are the ones that follow:

  • Take part in the joint discussion on how to implement the Declaration and realize the right to housing in different contexts;
  • Identify main obstacles for access to adequate housing faced by cities across the world;
  • Exchange, disseminate and assess policies and practices aimed at implementing the Declaration and promoting access to housing for all;
  • Disseminate the Declaration among their partners, in order to share it and promote ownership of its content at the local level;
  • Participate in the valorization at the global stage of practices and policies successful in tackling speculation and guaranteeing the right to housing.
