Call for the presentation of good practices on human rights policies at local level

Dear members, The UCLG Committee on Social Inclusion, Participatory Democracy and Human Rights has been requested by the UN Human Rights Council Advisory Committee to assist in conducting a study on the role of local governments in the promotion and protection of human rights.

In order to broaden the Committee information on the practice of local authorities in this field, we would like to kindly invite interested cities to answer the following questionnaire: 

  1. What are the reasons and circumstances that led to the take steps towards the implementation and/or mainstreaming of human rights in your city?
  2. What measures (policy, institutional, policies, projects etc.) have been undertaken at local level for implementation and/or mainstreaming of human rights?
  3. What are the main challenges faced by local authorities in the implementation and/or mainstreaming of human rights?

We encourage you to participate in this consultation by sending us your answers until April 11, 2014.
